Bio
Born and raised in Helsinki, Finland and having played guitar in various rock and metal bands in the Helsinki area during the past two decades or so, Teemu Kurki eventually decided to concentrate on his singing and trying his luck as a solo artist in 2018.
During 2019 Teemu Kurki released three original singer-songwriter type of songs recorded with a minimalistic approach and mainly featuring only Kurki on vocals and acoustic guitar.
At the same time Kurki was already working on some new material wanting to write simple songs with catchy melodies with hopes of recording them with a band. These songs ended up on his debut EP.
‘Hopes & Dreams’ EP was released on 8th of October 2020 and is filled with a blend of guitar driven rock and country music featuring the violin. Recorded at the V.R. Studio in Turku, Finland during the summer of 2020, ‘Hopes & Dreams’ is the first EP by Kurki and the first release to feature a full band.
‘Hopes & Dreams’ includes five new original songs all written by Kurki and he is joined on the EP by Petra Wahlsten on violin, Jori Saloranta on bass and mandolin and Jussi Vuola on drums and percussion. The EP was produced by Teemu Kurki & Jussi Vuola, mixed by Jori Saloranta and mastered by Jussi Vuola.
